President, Warner Bros. Television and Warner Horizon Scripted Television

Susan Rovner was named President of Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) — the division of the Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG) in May 2019, serving alongside strategic business executive and fellow WBTV President Brett A. Paul.

Rovner is responsible for spearheading the creation of new scripted primetime programming for the broadcast networks, the premium/pay and basic cable marketplace, and for on-demand/streaming platforms. She oversees WBTV’s drama and comedy development teams, as well as the current programming group, plus WHSTV’s scripted programming staff.

During her more than 20 years with WBTV, Rovner has been instrumental in spearheading the company’s creative expansion to develop series for on-demand/streaming services and increasing its output for premium and basic cable, while maintaining its position as an industry leader in production for the broadcast marketplace.

Rovner has worked closely with highly influential producers such as Greg Berlanti, J.J. Abrams, Ava DuVernay, John Wells, Julie Plec, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Bruno Heller, Elizabeth Banks, Damon Lindelof, Mindy Kaling, Michael Patrick King, Rob Thomas, Bill Lawrence, I. Marlene King, Jonathan Nolan & Lisa Joy, and more.

Rovner had previously served as Executive Vice President, Development, at WBTV, since March 2010, and had been Co-President of Warner Horizon Scripted Television since March 2014. Before that, she was WBTV’s Senior Vice President of Drama Development, overseeing the development of some of the company’s most important and successful programs. Successful, long-running series developed by Rovner during her tenure running the drama department include “The Closer,” “Fringe,” “Gossip Girl,” “The Mentalist,” “Nip/Tuck,” “One Tree Hill,” “Supernatural,” “The Vampire Diaries” and many more.

Rovner joined WBTV in 1998 as Director, Drama Development, and subsequently was promoted to Vice President, Drama Development, in 2001. During this time, she helped develop the long-running “Cold Case,” as well as “The O.C.” and the critically acclaimed “Everwood.”

Before WBTV, Rovner was Executive Director, Movies for Television, at ABC.
