Labeled a culinary genius by Zagat, celebrity Chinese chef, Susur Lee’s talent has been seen on the small screen, in book stores, and in countless restaurants around the world. Chef Lee has been associated with over twenty restaurants worldwide, four of which he still owns and operates today. Three are in Toronto, Canada, and one is in Singapore. His restaurants have received many rave reviews over the years, including mentions from Food and Wine magazine, Gourmet magazine, and The New York Times. His restaurants have also been recognized by Restaurant’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards.

Chef Susur Lee made his television debut on Food Network’s Iron Chef America in 2006 where he competed against Iron Chef Bobby Flay in a Battle Bacon challenge. The challenge resulted in a tie and was the only draw of season 3. In 2010 he competed on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters which featured twenty two world-renowned chefs including celebrity chefs Debbie Gold, Rick Tramonto, Ludo Lefebvre, Graham Elliott Bowles, Govind Armstrong, Jonathan Waxman, and Debbie Gold. Chef Susur Lee made it all the way to the finale where he and Chef Finalists Rick Moonen and Marcus Samuelsson were joined by Top Chefs Masters Rick Bayless, Michael Chiarello, Hubert Keller, and Tom Colicchio in the final cooking competition. Lee tied Chef Moonen as runners-up to Chef Samuelsson who was crowned Top Chef Master. Chef Susur has also made appearances on other food TV shows, including Restaurant Makeover, East Meets West, Simply Ming, Food Jammers, and as a guest judge on Top Chef and Top Chef Canada.

His bestselling cookbook, Susur: A Culinary Life covers Lee’s culinary journey throughout his life and provides over 120 of his critically acclaimed recipes. The book has received rave reviews from publications like Gourmet magazine and celebrity chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Nancy Oakes, Charlie Trotter, and Drew Nieporent.
