Emmy Award-winning Producer, Motown Executive, Film & TV Developer

Suzanne de Passe is co-chair of de Passe Jones Entertainment, a company known for producing a variety of significant projects including the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic "King" and President Obama's Commander in Chief's Inaugural Ball. She has also been involved in recent projects such as the VH-1 television series "Daytime Divas" and the biographical TV movie "Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland."

De Passe began her career as an executive at Motown, where she discovered and signed Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5, Lionel Richie & The Commodores, Rick James, deBarge, and other multi-million-selling Motown acts. She also oversaw the production of soundtracks for films like "Cooley High," "The Mack," and "Trouble Man," and secured the rights to the film version of "The Wiz" for the Universal Pictures-Motown joint venture. As President of Motown Productions, her first project as Executive Producer was the NBC special "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever," which won her an Emmy Award.

Currently, de Passe is producing a limited series on Marvin Gaye starring Jamie Foxx and a film about Chaka Khan based on her autobiography "Through the Fire." She is also collaborating with Kerry Washington to develop a film about Miriam Makeba, an apartheid activist and singer. Her extensive contributions to the entertainment industry have earned her multiple accolades, including two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award nomination for co-writing "Lady Sings the Blues." She has received five NAACP Image Awards and two Peabody Awards. Additionally, de Passe holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Howard University and serves on the boards of the Television Academy Foundation, The Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and The Caucus for Television Producers, Writers & Directors.
