Grammy Award-Winning R&B & Neo Soul Singer-Songwriter

Solána Rowe, better known by her stage name SZA, is a singer-songwriter. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and later relocated to Maplewood, New Jersey. In October 2012, Rowe self-released an extended play (EP) titled "See.SZA.Run," which she then followed up with her second EP, titled "S," in October 2013. In July 2013, it was revealed that she had signed to the hip-hop record label Top Dawg Entertainment, through which she released "Z," her third EP and first retail release, in April 2014. SZA became the first female artist to sign with the label.

Her debut studio album, "Ctrl," was released in 2017 and earned four Grammy Award nominations. SZA's second studio album, "SOS," released in 2022, spent ten non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200. Throughout her career, SZA has received a total of four Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, and a Guild of Music Supervisors Award. She has also been nominated for the Golden Globe and Academy Awards for Best Original Song for "All the Stars" with Kendrick Lamar.

SZA's music revolves around themes of sexuality, nostalgia, and abandonment, built over "layers of sliced, delayed, and reversed vocals." She cites a variety of artists as influences, including Billie Holiday, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Björk, Jamiroquai, Wu-Tang Clan, and Ashanti. Beyond music, she also draws inspiration from non-musical artists, including gymnasts, ice-skaters, painters, and film directors like Spike Lee. In addition to her own releases, SZA has co-written songs for prominent artists such as Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and Rihanna.
