Tammy Trujillo has worked in the entertainment industry since the age of 2. Professionally voice-trained as a child, she landed her first radio job while still in college, kicking off a career that has encompassed morning co-host, sportscaster, news anchor and traffic reporter on many of Southern California’s largest radio and television stations. She broke into the industry at a time when women were just getting their foot in the door and has the stories to tell about the industry then and now.
Always ready for the next great thing in broadcasting, Trujillo lept into podcasting, creating the celebrated Talks with John podcast – a weekly talk with John Lennon! She now hosts several other shows, executive produces others and is a podcast consultant to a wide variety of companies and organizations.
Trujillo has authored several books on broadcasting, is a certified animal behaviorist and lives with her husband and family of rescued dogs, cats and a 100-pound tortoise named Cecil!
Speech Topics
Believer in it All
Tammy broke into broadcasting at a time when the few women who were on the air were there to make the guys look good by giggling at their jokes. Knowing she could do more and determined to do so, Tammy moved into New and Sports - becoming one of the first female sportscasters allowed in to the locker rooms of Southern California's professional sports teams (and getting kicked out a lot too!) Her story is one of determination, goal-setting and always looking for the next great challenge.
Podcasting: New Era of Radio
It's being called the New Era of Radio and Tammy has been on the cutting edge of it since the beginning. During a dark, lonely night on a desert highway, Tammy conceived the highly acclaimed podcast Talks with John - a weekly conversation with John Lennon! Tammy says podcasts make the impossible possible and the possible probable. She lets you in on the secrets behind being a successful podcaster in a lively discussion that will make you anxious to become the next great podcaster!
News Broadcasting: A Day in the Life
A real-life look into the life of a News Broadcaster. Tammy tells it like it is from the 'normal' day on the air to the excitement of covering breaking news and even the nerve-gripping experience of covering wildfires, riots and earthquakes. What you hear and see on the air is only a fraction of what it is like to really be there. It's a lifestyle and a passion - and Tammy tells it all.
