Tanya R. Young Williams is a TV personality, legal analyst, inspirational speaker, author and featured contributor to Huffington Post. She is a proud graduate of the Yeshiva University – Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where her concentration was entertainment law. Her undergraduate degree in communications from St. John’s University enabled her to partner her legal knowledge with her passion for on-air broadcasting. Tanya has covered the biggest American trials of the past 10 years. Additionally, her first-hand knowledge of living through and being intimately involved in every phase of a high-profile trial – from jury selection through the verdict announcement proved to be her greatest Criminal Law learning experience. Tanya’s ability to share her unique perspective makes her a much sought after analyst whose commentary is powerfully enlightening to audiences.
Tanya has been a legal analyst for KTLA in Los Angeles, while simultaneously, appearing of national cable outlets to lend her expert analysis. Tanya is fondly known for her brief participation in VH-1’s hit show “Basketball Wives.” Her stance against violence on television prompted her decision to leave the series. Tanya has been featured in numerous magazines and online publications for her positive persona on "Basketball Wives." She has been applauded for her ability to foster a national conversation regarding the depiction of women, especially women of color, on reality television programs.
Nationally, Tanya has appeared on 20/20 with Barbara Walters, Good Morning America, The Early Show, ESPN, The Mike Huckabee Show, Nancy Grace Show, Dr. Drew Show, Jane Velez-Mitchell Show, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition, Evening Express, Court TV and TMZ. Tanya has appeared on numerous Los Angeles and New York stations including KTLA, NBCLA, KCAL9, WPIX and FoxNY.
Tanya is a powerful and captivating public speaker and is often called to speak at a wide variety of events and workshops. Her advocacy of regaining your personal power extends to all audiences. The New Jersey Regional Council of the National Women’s History Museum also named Tanya an Honorable Woman of New Jersey. Tanya is a Celebrity Spokesperson for domestic violence organizations.
Tanya has spent the greater part of her life studying religion, philosophy and emotional wellness. She penned a self-help workbook titled, “I’m Tired! Carry Your Own S#!T (Oops I Mean Bags) A 7 Day Journey to Peace, Passion and Purpose."
Tanya lives in Los Angeles and Manhattan and is the mother of two daughters, Tryumph and Whizdom.
