Tanzeem Choudhury  

2010 PopTech Science and Public Leadership Fellow

Tanzeem Choudhury, 2010 PopTech Science and Public Leadership Fellow, directs the People-Aware Computing group, which develops systems that can reason about human activities, interactions, and social networks in everyday environments, using information from mobile sensor data. She is currently an associate professor in Information Science at Cornell University and received her PhD from the Media Laboratory at MIT; there, as part of her doctoral work, she created the “sociometer” and conducted the first experiment using mobile sensors to model social networks, which led to a new field of research referred to as Reality Mining. In 2008, MIT Technology Review recognized her as one of the top 35 innovators under the age of 35. Choudhury has also been selected as a TED Fellow (2009) and is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award (2008). For more information, please visit people-aware-computing.org.
