Tara Conner is a former Miss USA, TV Host, Tedx Speaker, and Recovery Advocate. Conner made headlines in December of 2006 when she tested positive for cocaine during her reign as Miss USA. As scandal engulfed her Conner was publicly vilified and spent years living with the stigma of her addiction acquiring the moniker Mess USA. After years in recovery she became a voice of long term recovery and proudly wears her past on her sleeve.

As Conner's substance use disorder and mental health challenges played out in the press she decided to turn her personal mess into her mission by sharing her experience, strength, and hope to audiences around the world. She is wildly known for her brutal truth telling and transparency.

In 2017, Conner had the privilege of sharing her story in her TedX talk, encouraging others to “Recover Out Loud”. Since then, she has become a recovery coach, social media influencer, wife, and most recently a mother.

Conner hopes that sharing her ever evolving personal story will be an example and a true representation of what long term recovery looks like. Conner says, “Recovery doesn’t promise us a life without hardship, but it does give us the tools to navigate hard times with grace and dignity.”
