Tatyana Ali is an American actress, singer, producer, and activist, widely recognized for her role as Ashley Banks on the TV series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". A graduate of Harvard University, she has broadened her career to include significant roles in both film and television.
Ali's extensive filmography includes appearances in "Jawbreaker", "Glory Road", "Kiss the Girls", "The Brothers", "Mother and Child", "Home Again", and "November Rule". She has also participated in television projects beyond "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", including recurring roles on BET's "Zoe Ever After" and CBS’s "The Young and the Restless" as Roxanne until 2013. Her character "Maya" in "Second Generation Wayans" and appearances in "Fastlane" and "Half & Half" further showcase her versatility as an actress.
In addition to her acting career, Ali is a talented singer with a gold record for her 1998 debut album "Kiss the Sky", which featured hit singles "Daydreamin'" and "Boy You Knock Me Out". Her contribution to "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland" soundtrack with the song "Precious Wings" earned a Grammy Award for "Best Musical Album for Children" in 1999. In 2013, she released the independent EP "Hello", which received positive reviews.
Ali also co-runs HazraH Entertainment with her sister Anastasia Ali, focusing on producing content for underserved communities. Their production credits include the sitcom "Love That Girl!" and the web series "Buppies" for BET.com.
An accomplished advocate for youth and education, Ali has worked with the Millennium Momentum Foundation and the Step Up Women's Network. She hosted the United Negro College Fund's "Empower Me" Tour, encouraging students to seize control of their academic and professional destinies. Recognized for her advocacy, in 2011, BET and the Black Girls Rock organization honored her as their "Young, Gifted and Black" woman of the year.
With multiple NAACP Image Awards and her name listed among the most beautiful women in the world by People Magazine in 2011, Ali's influence extends beyond entertainment into impactful activism and community engagement.
