Tekedra Mawakana is the co-CEO of Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company with a mission to be the world’s most trusted driver. In this role, she is responsible for overall company strategy, with her primary focus on ensuring Waymo’s transformational technology — the Waymo Driver — is commercialized and widely adopted.

With over two decades of experience advising consumer technology companies on how to advance their business interests around the world, Mawakana is an expert in navigating complex high-profile issues. She began her career working with regulated technology and telecom industries, and leading global technology transactions.

Mawakana previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Waymo. Prior to Waymo, she led global teams across five continents at eBay, Yahoo, AOL and Startec. She started her career at the DC-based law firm Steptoe & Johnson LLP.

Mawakana currently serves on the Board of Directors for Intuit, and on the Advisory Council for Boom Technology. She is a social impact-focused angel investor, and an Advisor and LP with the Operator Collective.

Mawakana has been named to the TIME AI 100 list, the Silicon Valley Power 100 List, the US Black Chamber's Power 50 List, Entrepreneur Magazine's Top 100 Women of Influence, Fortune Magazine's 50 over 50 list, Savoy Magazine's Most Influential Black Corporate Directors, and Automotive News' 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry. She has been a featured speaker at high profile events including SXSW, Code, CES and WSJ Live.

Mawakana received her JD from Columbia Law School and her BA with honors from Trinity Washington University.
