Terry Ward is the founder and President of CommSkills Group, a national presentation/communication skills training and executive coaching organization. Many of the firm’s proprietary engagements play an integral role in leadership and learning development programs in Fortune 1000 companies all over the country.
Ward has over 30 years of experience coaching and facilitating presentation/communication workshops and leadership skills training focusing on an individual’s unique strengths.
Many of his workshops and programs are founded on the guiding principle that strength-based coaching significantly influences an individual’s behavior, mindset and impact. His method of coaching focuses on a person’s authentic style, strengths, and their “state of mind”. Ward believes by coaching professionals to access their own authentic style, unique abilities and valuable attributes, they can create a powerful presence to influence and inspire others.
As a change agent and catalyst, Ward’s emphasis is on improving the way people and businesses communicate. His distinctive “State of Mind” method, guides professionals in creating a connection and engaging their listeners by developing communications skills based on their own experiences and innate style.
The theme of Ward’s new book "The Art of Presenting" – looks at how to connect, engage and influence others in every communication situation. During his work as a writer in Hollywood, he became highly skilled at the fine art of presenting and realized that presenting was a critical component in everything we do in life. “It all boils down to our power to connect with people, whether in leadership, business or our own personal lives.”
Ward graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences and began his career as an advertising copywriter and account executive in Northern California. Ward developed his expertise through his many years of work in advertising, Improv, and theater. He was also a film and television writer in Los Angeles, and a playwright in the San Francisco area, where his critically acclaimed play Bar None was hailed as the longest running comedy in San Francisco.
