The-Dream

American R&B and Pop Record Producer; "Shawty is a 10"

Terius Youngdell Nash, also know as "The Dream", was hooked on music as soon as he heard the sweet soulful sounds of Sam Cooke and Al Green. In the third grade he enrolled in beginning trumpet classes at Grove Park Elementary School. He continued playing the trumpet through high school and later added to his musical repertoire by learning to play the drums and guitar.

In junior high and high school his musical influences broadened to include artists such as Timberland, Missy, Aaliyah and TuPac Shakur. His talents continued to develop naturally and eventually lead to singing, rapping and song writing.

In addition, he is also an accomplished artist and has created many paintings and sculptures, some of which have been shown at various art galleries throughout Atlanta.

"The Dream" was introduced to Laney Stewart at Redzone Entertainment in 2001, and although their first meeting wasn't very successful, things fared better the second time around and Laney pulled him into his camp, where they immediately started to write together for the multi-platinum group B2K.

In early 2003 he was signed by Laney Stewart to a new publishing deal with Morningside Trail through a joint venture with peermusic. Since then he has continued writing for other artists, including Britney Spears' single, "Me Against The Music."

In 2006, Dream was brought in by Tricky Stewart, of Redzone, to write with several artists the company was working with such as, Bayje, Dear Jane, J. Holiday and Brit and Alex. In 2007, with the help of Tricky, "Umbrella" was created and was shopped to several labels for several artists. Dream knew right off that Rihanna would be the best artist for the record. Island Def Jam flew Dream and Tricky to LA to record with Rihanna. "Umbrella" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2008 Grammy Awards.

In 2007, Nash signed a record contract with Def Jam Recordings and began working on his debut studio album Love Hate. The album featured the singles "Shawty Is Da Shit," "Falsetto" and "I Luv Your Girl" and received generally positive reviews from critics, as Rolling Stone called it "one of the most likable R&B records of the year" and UrbanMusicReviews.com said that the singer had "hit a home run." In June 2008, The-Dream was named Best New Artist at the BET Awards.

In 2009 The-Dream released his second album Love vs. Money. The album featured Mariah Carey, Kanye West, and Lil Jon and featured the singled "Rockin' That Shit," "Walkin' on the Moon" and "Sweat It Out." Upon its release, the album received general acclaim from most music critics, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

During the making of Love King, he recorded a song with T-Pain and expressed that he would like to make a collaborative album with Kanye West in the future. In January 2010, The-Dream officially stated he was finished recording the album, and he called it the best of his three albums and his last solo album. The album spawned the singles "Love King" and "Make Up Bag." Despite positive reviews from critics, the album was less commercially successful than Love vs. Money and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Def Jam Recordings released 1977 commercially on December 18, 2012 with a modified tracklist and the new title Terius Nash: 1977. The-Dream released the singles "Roc" and "Dope Bitch," which were not included on the final tracklist for IV Play. IV Play was released in 2013 and features guest appearances from Jay-Z, Big Sean, Pusha T, Beyoncé, 2 Chainz, Kelly Rowland, Gary Clark Jr. and Fabolous."
