Thelma Golden      

Director and Chief Curator, The Studio Museum in Harlem

Thelma Golden is director and chief curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem, where she began her career. From 2000 to 2005, she was the museum’s deputy director for exhibitions and programs. Golden spent a decade at the Whitney Museum of American Art, where she organized numerous groundbreaking exhibitions and served as director of the Whitney Museum at Phillip Morris. In 2010, President Obama appointed her to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House. She is also Manhattan vice chair of the Cultural Institutions Group. Golden holds three honorary doctorates and a Barnard College Medal of Distinction.
