Thorold Barker is editor: Europe, Middle East and Africa, for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. In that role he oversees the combined editorial resources of the newspaper and newswires, as well as the separate publication Financial News. Mr. Barker began working at the Journal in 2008 when he relaunched Heard on the Street as a global commentary and analysis product, with a team of 16 reporters in seven countries covering business, finance and macro-economics.

Prior to joining the Journal, he worked at the Financial Times from 1998 until mid-2008 as a correspondent and an editor. From 2004 to 2008 he was the U.S. Lex editor writing commentary on technology, media, telecoms, macro economy and Wall Street.

From 1994 to 1998 Mr. Barker worked for Bain and Company, a global business and strategy consulting firm.

Mr Barker graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University with a degree in modern languages (Spanish and Italian.)
