Tim Duncan is a retired professional basketball player widely regarded as one of the greatest power forwards in National Basketball Association (NBA) history. His illustrious career is marked by numerous accolades, including five NBA championships with the San Antonio Spurs.
Duncan's basketball journey began at Wake Forest University, where he showcased his exceptional skills and earned recognition as the consensus College Player of the Year. In 1997, he entered the NBA Draft and was selected as the first overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs, where he spent his entire career. Duncan's impact was immediate, earning him the NBA Rookie of the Year award and establishing him as a cornerstone for the Spurs' success.

Throughout his career, he earned two NBA MVP awards, three NBA Finals MVP awards, and a place on the All-NBA First Team 10 times. His excellence in both scoring and defense solidified his status as a two-way player.
Under Duncan's leadership, the team consistently reached the playoffs, securing five NBA championships in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014. His partnership with coach Gregg Popovich became one of the most successful player-coach duos in NBA history.
In 2016, Duncan announced his retirement, leaving a lasting legacy as an NBA icon and one of the greatest power forwards of all time. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.
Known for his humility and commitment to community service, Duncan's impact extends beyond the basketball court. He established the Tim Duncan Foundation, focusing on education, health, youth development and improving the lives of children and families in need in his home country of the US Virgin Islands as well as in his community of San Antonio, Texas.
