Hyperpolyglot; Portfolio Manager, State-Sponsored Threats at Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS)

As Portfolio Manager on the State-Sponsored Threats team at Center for Advanced Defense Studies (C4ADS), Tim Doner oversees analysis of malign influence operations conducted by Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. He started at C4ADS as an Iran analyst, specializing in the study of the Iranian ballistic missile and nuclear programs, offensive cyber operations and cross-border financial networks.

Before coming to C4ADS, Doner worked as a political risk analyst at the firm Signum Global Advisors, a Middle East analyst at the business intelligence firm Ergo, and as Vice President of Business Development at an educational firm called The VIEW. He also previously interned as an Arabic translator at the UN and as an analyst at a macro hedge fund, and has published analysis on Iranian foreign policy in outlets such as Bourse and Bazaar.

Doner received his Bachelor’s in Near Eastern Studies from Harvard University and his Master’s in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.

While still a high school student, Doner received national media attention in outlets such as The New York Times, The Economist and the "Today Show" for his skills as a hyperpolyglot, after mastering 23 languages in just a few weeks.
