Todd Frazier

Professional Baseball Third Baseman; Member of United States Baseball Team at 2020 Olympics

Todd Frazier is an American professional baseball third baseman who is a free agent. He previously played for the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, New York Mets, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Frazier is an 11-year veteran and two-time All-Star who most recently played with the Pirates for 13 games at the start of the 2021 season. After batting just .086 in 35 at-bats, he was designated for assignment in mid-May and elected to enter free agency after being sent to the minors.

Back in 2020, Frazier was still on a roster and couldn’t join Team USA because MLB and MLBPA agreed that only players not on 40-man rosters were eligible to compete. But, as they say, “everything happens for a reason,” and Frazier was DFA’d just a week before the team traveled down to Florida. He spoke with Paul Seiler, the executive director and CEO of USA Baseball, and earned a spot on the Olympic roster, achieving a longtime dream of his.

In May 2021, Frazier played for the United States national baseball team in the Americas Qualifying Event. After the team qualified, he was named to the Olympics roster on July 2.
