Tom Holland

English Actor & Dancer Known for Playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Tom Holland is an English actor and alumnus of the BRIT School in London. He began his acting career on stage at the age of nine, playing the title role in "Billy Elliot the Musical" in London's West End from 2008 to 2010. He gained further recognition for his starring role in the disaster film The Impossible, receiving the London Film Critics Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year and his first National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance.

Holland achieved international stardom for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. For his performances in the Spider-Man series, Holland has won a British Academy Film Award, three Saturn Awards, and was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list in 2019.

Outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland has taken on diverse roles in films such as How I Live Now, In the Heart of the Sea, The Lost City of Z, The Current War, Spies in Disguise, Onward, The Devil All the Time, and Cherry. He has also lent his voice to animated characters, including a role in the British dub of the Japanese animated film Arrietty. In 2017, Holland received the BAFTA Rising Star Award and continued to gain acclaim for his performances.

Expanding his repertoire, Holland headlined Chaos Walking, an adaptation of Patrick Ness' best-selling science fiction series, alongside Daisy Ridley. He has also starred in the film adaptation of Naughty Dog's Uncharted video game series as a young Nathan Drake. Holland's work with his Avengers directors, the Russo brothers, continued with the lead role in Cherry, based on the novel of the same name.

In addition to acting, Holland has moved into directing with a short film titled "Tweet," and has expressed interest in taking on more directorial roles in the future. Holland's career has not been without challenges; he has been open about his dyslexia and admits to having found the transition from stage to screen initially challenging. Despite these obstacles, Holland has become one of his generation's most promising leading men, consistently praised for his "cheeky British charm, vulnerability, and wit." He has also been recognized by Forbes as one of their "30 Under 30 Europe" and Insider, Inc. as one of the "45 young stars who will one day rule Hollywood."
