Tom Schaar is a professional skateboarder who has left an unforgettable mark on the sport at a young age. At just 12 years old, Schaar landed skateboarding's first-ever "1080," a trick involving three revolutions. Later that year, he repeated this phenomenal feat in competition at the 2012 Dew Tour Mega 2.0 event, propelling him into the limelight. He went on to become the youngest X Games gold medalist after successfully completing the first 1080 at the 2012 Asia X Games in Shanghai. His meteoric rise continued as he became the youngest Dew Tour champion, the youngest Vans Pool Party champion, and the youngest "Big Air" gold medalist at the Austin X Games. By the time he was 18, Schaar was a nine-time X Games Medalist.
In addition to his competitive achievements, Schaar was listed in the Forbes Magazine 2020 30 Under 30 Sports category. He has also made a significant impact on the sport through his relationships with key sponsors such as Element Skateboards, Vans Shoes, and Monster Energy. With his consistent high-level performance, including landing a 900 on a skateboard in October 2011 and becoming the 8th person in history to do so, Schaar has earned a strong contest history with numerous top placements in events like X Games, Vans Park Series, and Dew Tour.
Building upon his impressive legacy, Schaar won the silver medal in the men's park skateboarding competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He has also been part of the US Skateboarding team and has been featured in multiple media outlets, including ESPN, YouTube, and the Los Angeles Times. His commitment to the sport and exemplary performances led to his Guinness World Record for landing a 1080 on a skateboard in his 5th attempt.
