Investor, Author, Principal at Future Shape LLC, Former CEO & Founder of Nest Labs

Tony Fadell is an American engineer, innovator, designer, entrepreneur, founder, coach, active investor, and author. He is the inventor of the iPod, inventor of the iPhone, and founder and former CEO of Nest Labs.

Fadell joined Apple Inc. in 2001, serving as the Senior Vice President of the iPod division and overseeing all iPod hardware, software, and accessories development. As the co-creator of the iPhone, he also worked on the first three generations of the iPhone. In May 2010, he co-founded Nest Labs, which announced its first product, the Nest Learning Thermostat, in October 2011. Nest was acquired by Google in January 2014 for $3.2 Billion.

In his 30-plus years of experience in the consumer electronics industry, Fadell has authored more than 300 patents and has received numerous awards and recognitions such as TIME Magazine "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2014. In 2016, TIME named the Nest Learning Thermostat, the iPod, and the iPhone as three of the “50 Most Influential Gadgets of All Time".

Fadell is currently the Principal at Future Shape, a global investment and advisory firm coaching 200+ startups working on foundational deep technology. His book, "Build: An Unorthodox Guide to Making Things Worth Making" was released May 2022. "Build" is full of personal stories, advice, and insights into some of the most impactful products and people of the 20th century.
