Tonya Rerecich is a motivational and inspirational speaker. In 2011, her daughter Addie contracted a staph infection and went into septic shock. She was not expected to live. For five months, she wavered between life and death. After a double-lung transplant, she took her daughter home, but she would never be the same. We have had to live with complications, fears, massive doses of anti-rejection drugs, risk of infection and a foreshortened life, so, for me, the battle never ends.

People describe Rerecich as the strongest person they know, but the constant vigilance, the roller coaster of emotions as Addie’s condition improved and then worsened nearly destroyed her. We all have breaking points and she developed PTSD and tried to bury her feelings in alcohol and drug addiction.

Although her story is at times dark, it is inspiring and shows the best in people, the dedicated doctors and nurses and people in the community who supported them.

Rerecich is currently writing a book about her daughter’s miracle survival, and the aftermath and stress it can cause caregivers. She is working with well-known writer, Allen R. Kates, MFAW, BCECR, author of the internationally acclaimed bestseller, CopShock, second edition: Surviving Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
