Tracey Meares  

Walton Hale Hamilton Professor of Law, Yale Law School

Tracey Meares is the Walton Hale Hamilton Professor of Law at Yale Law School. Before joining Yale, she was the first woman of color to be tenured at University of Chicago Law School. Meares’s research interests focus on criminal procedure and criminal law policy, and her writings on such issues as crime prevention and community capacity build upon the interaction between law, culture, social norms, and social organization. She was appointed by former attorney general Holder to serve on the inaugural Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Science Advisory Board, and in December 2014, President Obama appointed her to serve on his Task Force on 21st Century Policing.
