Travis Whitfill is the Cofounder and Chief Science Officer of Azitra, a company that modifies skin microbiome to treat skin diseases. In addition, he is an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University. In 2018, Whitfill was recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in healthcare.

After receiving a B.S. from Dallas Baptist University, he went on to complete his Master's at Yale University
