Medical Director of Community Services & Director of Medical Education at New York City Children’s Center

Tresha A. Gibbs, MD, is Medical Director for Community Services at New York City Children’s Center and Director of Medical Education at the New York City Children’s Centers, an agency of the New York State Office of Mental Health. She previously served as the Psychiatry Residency Director at Harlem Hospital. Dr. Gibbs is a former APA SAMHSA Minority Fellow and has served on the Council on Healthcare Systems and Financing. She is currently a member of the American Psychiatric Association’s Council on Children, Adolescents and Their Families.

Dr. Gibbs's clinical and academic interests include early psychosis, transitional-age youth with psychiatric conditions, clinician bias, minority recruitment to medicine and minority mental health. She has published a first-author manuscript on the mental health of African Americans and Black Caribbeans in the United States. Dr. Gibbs is board certified in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry.
