Troyen A. Brennan      

Adjunct Professor at Harvard School of Public Health; Former Chief Medical Officer of CVS Caremark Corp.

Troyen A. Brennan, M.D., M.P.H., is Adjunct Professor at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health and a National Advisor at Manatt Health. He was formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of CVS Health.

Brennan is the author of the book, "Transformation of American Health Insurance: On the Path to Medicare for All" in which he explores the historical evolution of public and private health insurance in the United States, and the country's trajectory toward Medicare for All.

Previously, Brennan was Chief Medical Officer of Aetna Inc. Prior to that, Brennan served as president and CEO of Brigham and Women's Physicians Organization. In his academic work, he was Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Law and Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health.

Brennan received his M.D. and M.P.H. degrees from Yale Medical School and his J.D. degree from Yale Law School. He has a Master’s Degree from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He earned a BS from Southern Methodist University. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
