Tyler Butler-Figueroa

Violinist & Reality TV Star; Leukemia Survivor & Anti-Bullying Advocate

Tyler Butler-Figueroa is a teen violinist from Raleigh, NC, who has been playing the instrument for over eight years. A leukemia survivor, Butler-Figueroa was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when he was 4 1/2 years old and is now over eight years in remission. His music genres include Pop, Classical, Gospel, Folk, Memorial, Patriotic, Soft Rock, Line Dance, Nigerian, Hip Hop, Country, Soul, Bollywood, R&B, and Spanish. In 2024, Butler-Figueroa released his album "Timeless, Vol. 1."

During his cancer treatment, which included hospital stays, spinal taps, surgeries, and three years of chemotherapy, Butler-Figueroa was bullied in school when his hair came out due to the medications that he had to take to survive. It was a very difficult time for him, but he kept his head high and remained positive. Butler-Figueroa began learning the violin in his elementary school class and quickly advanced. Due to a "Chemo Port" implanted in his chest, he was unable to participate in sports, so he focused on the violin, teaching himself advanced techniques through YouTube videos. His performance ability became so noteworthy that he won the first-place trophy and the People's Choice trophy in his school's talent show.

Being raised by his single mother, Kisua, alongside his younger brother, Adam, Butler-Figueroa worked to support his family by performing on the streets. He watched "America's Got Talent" in 2018 and was inspired by the violinist Brian King Joseph. Motivated by this experience, he auditioned for the show, receiving the "Golden Buzzer" from Simon Cowell and advancing to the Live Rounds. He not only finished as a Top 10 Finalist on "America's Got Talent" but also performed on the Ellen Show and in six shows in Las Vegas with AGT 2019 winner Kodi Lee for "AGT Live On Stage." Proving his global standing, Butler-Figueroa competed on "America's Got Talent: The Champions Season 2," where he placed third in the world. He continues to inspire others and spread joy with his gift.
