Television actor; best known for role as Derek Hale on MTV's hit series "Teen Wolf"

Tyler Lee Hoechlin is an American actor who got his big break starring as Tom Hanks' son in the film "Road to Perdition" (2002). In television, he is best known for playing the role of Martin Brewer on "7th Heaven" and the current role of Derek Hale on the MTV series "Teen Wolf."

Hoechlin was born in Corona, California and also has two brothers, Tanner and Travis, and a sister, Carrie. Hoechlin began playing baseball at the age of seven. He earned a college scholarship to play infield for Arizona State University. In 2008, he played infield for the UC Irvine Anteaters.

Tyler began acting at the age of nine and his performance as Michael Sullivan, Jr. in "Road to Perdition" led to him getting the role of Martin Brewer in "7th Heaven". Hoechlin was nominated for a 2004 Teen Choice Award for Breakout Male Star. He starred in the 2007 David DeCoteau film "Grizzly Rage" and was in the 2008 movie "Solstice." He also starred in an episode of Castle in its second season. He appeared alongside Owen Wilson and Christina Applegate in the 2011 movie "Hall Pass." BuddyTV ranked him #3 on its list of "TV's Sexiest Men of 2011."
