Tyrese Gibson, both an R&B singer-songwriter, actor, and bestselling author. He has celebrated achievements across multiple facets of the entertainment industry. His debut album "Tyrese", released in 1998, reached platinum certification, and his 2015 album "Black Rose" debuted atop the Billboard 200. His single "How You Gonna Act Like That" remains his highest-charting song. Gibson's acting career includes roles in popular franchises such as "Fast & Furious" and "Transformers", as well as films like "Baby Boy" and "Four Brothers." In 2022, he appeared in the comedy "Ride Along 2" and the superhero film "Morbius."
Gibson's accomplishments extend beyond acting and singing, reaching into the realms of literature and reality television. In 2009, he co-created a three-issue comic book titled "Tyrese Gibson's MAYHEM!" and released a New York Times bestseller titled "How to Get Out of Your Own Way" in 2012. He followed this success with another New York Times bestseller in 2013, "Manology: Secrets of Your Man's Mind Revealed", co-authored with Rev. Run. Gibson competed on season five of "The Masked Singer" as the character "Robopine", and is set to release an R&B album titled "Beautiful Pain" in late 2023. His single from "Beautiful Pain", titled "Don't Think You Ever Loved" featuring Lenny Kravitz, was released in February 2023.
Throughout his career, Gibson has been recognized for his diverse talents. He won the American Music Award for Favorite New R&B/Soul Artist in 2000, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance for "Sweet Lady" in 2000 and for Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Shame" in 2016. His film work received a special mention at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2001 for the film "Baby Boy." He also won the Soul Train Music Award for Song of the Year for "Stay" in 2012. Additionally, he has made recent television appearances on shows like "Top Chef" in 2023 and "Uncensored" in 2020.
