Tzeporah Berman, BA, MES, LLD (honoris causa), boasts over three decades of experience in environmental activism and policy-making, both nationally and internationally. Currently serving as the International Program Director at Stand.Earth and Chair of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, she has previously held influential roles such as co-director of Greenpeace International's Global Climate and Energy Program and Co-founder of ForestEthics (now Stand.Earth).

Throughout her career, Berman has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Climate Breakthrough Project Award in 2019, which granted her $2 million USD to develop innovative global strategies addressing climate change. Notable appointments include co-chairing Alberta's Oil Sands Advisory Working Group, where she played a pivotal role in formulating policy recommendations to meet Canada’s climate targets. Her contributions have been recognized with awards such as the Brescia University College Activist Award and the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in British Columbia.

Berman's impact extends beyond awards and appointments. As a Canadian Ambassador for World Future Council Global 100% RE and a fellow of the Broadbent Institute, she has been at the forefront of shaping sustainability initiatives and advocating for renewable energy development. Her involvement in landmark agreements like the Great Bear Rainforest agreement and the Canadian Boreal Forest Initiative underscores her dedication to environmental conservation, having helped protect over 40 million hectares of old-growth forests.

At Stand.Earth, Berman continues to drive impactful campaigns, ranging from advocating for the Amazon and addressing the impacts of shipping and fashion industries to promoting renewable energy and protecting old-growth forests. Her influential voice extends to her writing, with published works including her acclaimed book "This Crazy Time: Living Our Environmental Challenge," along with opinion pieces in leading publications like the Globe and Mail and the Guardian.

In 2021, Berman made headlines for her arrest during a blockade to protect thousand-year-old trees in Fairy Creek, Vancouver Island. Her commitment to environmental causes was further highlighted by a widely-viewed TED Talk, where she made a compelling case for a global treaty to phase out fossil fuels, cementing her legacy as a tireless advocate for a sustainable future.
