She is an unmitigated success story, mettle-tested by having survived life in a Chicago ghetto as a child to later become a University of Michigan graduate with a Bachelors in Math and a commissioned Air Force officer. She later received a Masters in Human Resource Management. Following military service, she became an entrepreneur, a multi-lingual adult instructor, public and home educator, professional tutor, counselor, vocalist, and instrumentalist.

On her personal journey, she is married and an amazing mother of nine children, whom she dubs "the richness of my life". Through a variety of callings, to include family experiences, Valerie's expertise abounds - from life in American inner cities to the isles of Greece, where she lived abroad with her family.
