Austrian Actress Known for "A Hidden Life"

Valerie Pachner is an Austrian actress known for starring in Terrence Malick's 2019 historical drama film, A Hidden Life.

Pachner grew up in Bad Schallerbach, Austria and studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna from 2009 to 2013. Currently, she is part of the ensemble cast at the Residenztheater under artistic director Martin Kušej.

Pachner starred as the female lead in the 2015 film Bad Luck, which was nominated for the Max-Ophüls-Preis. After that she appeared in Elisabeth Scharang's Jack and Dieter Berner's Egon Schiele: Death and the Maiden. In Maria Schrader's biopic of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe, Pachner played Zweig's stepdaughter. Stefan Zweig: Farewell to Europe also starred Barbara Sukowa and Josef Hader as Stefan Zweig.

In 2017, Pachner won the Austrian Film Award for Best Actress.

In 2019, Pachner played Franziska Jägerstätter in Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life.
