Vimal Shah is CEO of the BIDCO Group, a leading African manufacturer, marketer and distributor of edible oils, fats and hygienic products. Shah transformed BIDCO from a small, unknown company to East Africa's most respected manufacturer. BIDCO is a member of the U.N. Global Compact and practices its 10 international principles. Through BIDCO, Shah is also an active member of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. He was recognized as "East African Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2012 by All Africa Business Leaders Awards. In 2011, then-Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki honored his contributions to national development with First Class: Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear. Harvard Business School carried out a case study on BIDCO to create a success model for other enterprises. Shah is vice chairman of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance and a board member with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers. He holds a B.Sc. degree in business administration and finance from United States International University-Africa.
