Dr. Vincent Macaluso is a neurologist who not only treats but also has multiple sclerosis. He has spoken to groups around the country offering both education and inspiration to those who have had MS touch their lives. The crux of his medical message is that there needs to be an open dialogue between patient and doctor in order to provide optimal medical care. His talks are divided into two parts. The first hour deals with the biology of MS - why and what is going on in the brain and spinal cord. The second hour is a dedicated to taking an optimistic viewpoint of dealing with a chronic disease. Dr. Macaluso views education as a two-way street when it comes to learning and is always open to questions from his audiences. Having graduated from Georgetown School of Medicine he decided to remain there and complete his neurology training before returning with his wife to the town where he grew up, Douglaston, NY. He is currently in private practice treating adult patients with different neurological diseases. His main passion is helping those who share many similar challenges provided by MS. His wife, Lauren (who is also a medical doctor specializing in Breastfeeding Medicine) works in the same office. Her patients are young mothers who she helps in handling breastfeeding issues. Dr. Macaluso has two beautiful children, Abigail and Vincent. The entire family has performed together in shows about how MS affects the family as a whole. Family programs are available upon request.
