Music Business Partnerships, Hip-Hop and R&B at Apple Music

Walter J. Tucker oversees the Hip-Hop and R&B relationships with all independent record labels and distribution partners at Apple Music, the largest global music and tech streaming platform. Tucker serves as an internal business & cultural advocate for veteran & emerging independent artists. Working cross-functionally, he’s responsible for identifying and leading key partnership opportunities for independent Hip-Hop and R&B releases including but not limited to: editorial pitches, Apple Music radio, marketing, original content, and strategic platform featuring. In this role, he's led the Apple Music campaigns for the following artists: Jay-Z, Nas, Brandy, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Snoh Aalegra, Kelly Rowland, Migos, Omarion, Snoop Dogg, City Girls & more.

Tucker is also the founder of the LiveThe.Biz music education platform aimed at mentoring, empowering and educating musicians in urban communities. The organization already has become one of the fastest-growing music education platforms for independent artists, college students, and aspiring music executives, with over 12,000 professional members. Securing partnerships with Microsoft & WeWork, Tucker has produced & hosted several sold-out music education panels in NYC, LA, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Nashville featuring primarily minority executives from the major record labels, streaming companies, and music television networks. Through LiveThe.Biz initiatives, members have found jobs at entertainment companies and even secured distribution deals with record companies.
