Will Carey, a principal designer at IDEO, specializes in interaction and industrial design. As a team leader, he encourages designers to take provocative, inspired approaches when faced with demanding challenges. Will works across a wide range of industries from consumer electronics and automotive to biotech and toys. He is particularly interested in looking at future scenarios to understand some of the social, ethical, and cultural implications of emerging technologies and how they are shaping our behavior, both physically and digitally.

Will has worked for clients in over 10 different countries over 10 years, including stints in London and Milan developing interior and lighting designs for clients such as Zumtobel, FLOS, and Stella McCartney. His aptitude also extends to designing communications products, which he’s done for global companies like Motorola, LG, Samsung, SAP and Panasonic.

Will has exhibited work in London, Milan, Paris, New York, and Tokyo; won design awards including Design Week’s Future of Design, Wallpaper’s Best Debut Collection, Blueprint’s Best Show, and IDSA bronze packaging awards; and was recently nominated for a Fast Co. Innovation by Design award.

Born in Oxford, UK, Will has a BA in Product Design from Central St. Martin’s, London and an MA in Design Interactions from the Royal College of Art.
