William Kuhn

Historian & Author of Reading Jackie

William Kuhn is the author of Reading Jackie: Her Autobiography in Books, which looks at Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's years as an editor at Viking and Doubleday, where she worked on nearly a hundred books, as a window into her own life story.

Kuhn has written three previous books: Democratic Royalism (1996), Henry and Mary Ponsonby: Life at the Court of Queen Victoria (2002), and The Politics of Pleasure: A Portrait of Benjamin Disraeli (2006).

BBC Radio Four featured Kuhn's biography of the Ponsonbys on its "Book of the Week." The actor Geoffrey Palmer (Mrs. Brown, A Fish Called Wanda) read the excerpts.

Most recently William Kuhn has been professor of history at Carthage College. He has held fellowships from the Social Science Research Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities. He was an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, and completed his doctorate in history at Johns Hopkins.
