Wolfgang Eder – Austrian, born 1952 – studied law at the University of Salzburg, where he graduated (Dr.) in 1976. In 1978 he joined VOEST-ALPINE’s legal department where he built up the M & A section and became company secretary in 1989. 1995 – after organizing the IPO of the “new” voestalpine AG – he was elected as a Member of the Board and in 2001 its Deputy Chairman.

Since April 2004 Wolfgang Eder is Chairman and CEO of voestalpine AG. He is responsible for Group Strategy, R & D, Legal Affairs and M & A, Group Compliance, Group Personnel, Group Communication and Branding, Investor Relations and Internal Auditing. Mr. Eder is also head of the Steel Division, voestalpine’s largest business unit.

He holds leading positions in the Federation of Austrian Industrialists, is Incoming Chairman of the worldsteel Association and was President of the European Steel Association (EUROFER) from 2009 till May 2014.

Mr. Eder is married to highschool teacher Gabi Eder and father of two adult children.
