Wynonna Judd
Grammy-Winning Country Superstar & Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee; Author & Former Contestant on "Dancing With the Stars"
Wynonna Judd is a country music singer. In her highly successful career, she has scored 19 No. 1 singles, including tracks with The Judds, securing her position as one of the best-selling country artists. Known by the single name Wynonna in her solo career, she first established her name in the 1980s as part of the mother-daughter country music duo The Judds with her mother, Naomi. The duo created seven albums and 26 singles on Curb Records, with fourteen achieving No. 1 hit status.
The Judds disbanded in 1991, paving the way for Wynonna's solo career, also under Curb. As a solo artist, Judd has released a wide assortment of music, including eight studio albums, a live album, a holiday album, and two compilation albums. Her first solo performance on television took place at the American Music Awards in 1992, the same year her self-titled debut album, "Wynonna," was released. This album achieved remarkable success, selling five million copies in the U.S. and producing four number-one country singles: "She Is His Only Need," "I Saw the Light," "My Strongest Weakness," and "No One Else on Earth." Her successive work, which includes albums such as "Tell Me Why," "Revelations," "The Other Side," and "Wynonna & the Big Noise," has seen similar success and critical acclaim. Her most recent work, "Recollections," was released in 2020.
Beyond her musical accomplishments, Judd has pursued various other interests since the 2000s, including writing, acting, and philanthropy. She has penned her autobiography "Coming Home to Myself," showcased her acting skills in TV shows like "Blue's Clues," "Touched by an Angel," "Hope & Faith," and "Kath & Kim," and also made an appearance on season 16 of "Dancing with the Stars." Her dedication to philanthropy earned her the USO's Merit Award for service to the United States Armed Forces, and she has served as the United States Ambassador for YouthAIDS. Moreover, she has been recognized for her contributions to music, including being named the Best Country Music Artist and receiving the Country Champion Award at the People's Choice Country Awards in 2023. In 2022, she was honored by being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as a member of The Judds.
