Xander Schauffele

Professional Golfer, Winner of 2024 PGA Championship & 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist

Alexander Victor Schauffele, known as Xander Schauffele, is a professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Schauffele set his sights on a golfing career at the young age of 10. With guidance from his father, a San Diego Golf Academy graduate and his lifelong swing coach, Schauffele honed his skills early on. He excelled at Scripps Ranch High School, later playing collegiate golf at Long Beach State University and San Diego State University.

Schauffele's early accomplishments include winning the individual title at the 2011 California State High School Championship and the 2014 California State Amateur Championship. At Long Beach State, he was named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year and earned First Team All-Big West honors. His professional journey began on the Web.com Tour, where he secured PGA Tour membership through his performance in the playoffs.

Making an impressive debut on the tour, Schauffele's first season included a T5 finish at the 2017 U.S. Open and victories at both the Greenbrier Classic and the Tour Championship, making him the first rookie to win the latter. His standout season earned him the 2016-2017 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. Subsequent victories included the 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions and the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions, where he tied the course record with an 11-under-par 62 in the final round.

Schauffele's career continued to flourish with significant finishes, including a solo second at the 2019 Tour Championship and a pivotal role in the U.S. team's victory at the 2019 Presidents Cup. In 2021, he contributed to another U.S. triumph at the Ryder Cup and secured three PGA Tour wins in the 2021-2022 season, highlighted by the Zurich Classic, the Travelers Championship, and the Genesis Scottish Open.

Capping his achievements, Schauffele won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first American to do so in over a century. His victory at the 2024 PGA Championship, his first major title, has further solidified his status as one of golf's elite players.
