Yalda Hakim is recognized for her role as the presenter of BBC World News’s flagship program "Impact with Yalda Hakim." Since joining the network in 2012, she has become a prominent figure in journalism, covering a broad range of international conflicts and issues.

In October 2013, Hakim and her team were honored with a United Nations Association of Australia Media Award for Best Television Documentary for their investigative work in Yemen. Before her tenure at BBC World News, she was the presenter of "SBS Dateline" in Australia. Her journalistic endeavors have taken her from Afghanistan’s Kandahar province to Libya during the Arab Spring, and to conflict zones such as Iraq and South Sudan, providing crucial insights into global affairs.

Born in Afghanistan and relocated to Australia in the late 1980s, Hakim's early life was marked by significant upheaval, which influenced her career path. She began as a cadet journalist at SBS’s World News Australia, where she quickly distinguished herself by becoming a finalist for the Australian Young Journalist of the Year Award and winning the United Nations Media Peace Prize for Best Australian Television News coverage in 2009. Beyond English, she is fluent in Farsi, Urdu, Hindi, Pashto, and Dari, and is currently learning Mandarin. Today, she continues to engage audiences worldwide with her in-depth coverage and analysis of pressing international political issues and conflicts.
