Yamiche Alcindor

White House Correspondent for "PBS NewsHour"

Yamiche Alcindor is a White House Correspondent for PBS NewsHour, as well as a contributor to NBC News & MSNBC.

Previously, she was a national reporter for The New York Times, who covered politics and social justice issues. After joining The Times in 2015, she traveled extensively to cover the presidential campaigns of Donald J. Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders.

She's also written about the legacy of President Obama, outreach to voters of color and the anxiety of working-class Americans as well as how police killings affect communities and children. She also produces videos and documentaries about societal concerns such as wrongful convictions and gun violence.

In 2013, the National Association of Black Journalists named Alcindor the Emerging Journalist of the Year. In the four years since then, she's honored that title by doing excellent work at Newsday and USA Today, giving a platform to the experiences and voices of people who likely would have remained unheard.
