Yeah Yeah Yeahs

American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. Since their inception, the band has been composed of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase, who are complemented in live performances by second guitarist David Pajo, who joined as a touring member in 2009 and replaced Imaad Wasif who had previously held this role.

The band's first release was their 2001 self-titled EP, where it reached Number 1 in the UK Indie Chart in 2003. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs followed this with another EP a year later, titled “Machine,” which spawned an identically titled single that charted on the UK Singles Chart.

The band's first album, “Fever to Tell,” was released in 2002, and peaked at #55 on the American Billboard 200 chart, and #13 in the UK. “Fever to Tell” spawned four singles, including "Maps" which charted also on singles charts in the US and UK.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' sophomore album, “Show Your Bones,” was released in 2006, followed a year later by another EP, “Is Is.” The band has also released one video album, “Tell Me What Rockers to Swallow,” which features footage from a live performance and all of the band's music videos through 2004.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their third studio album, “It's Blitz!,” in April 2009. It reached #22 on the American Billboard 200 chart, and #9 in the UK. The first single "Zero" was released on February 24, 2009. The album was produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire, Talking Heads, PiL), along with TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek.

The album, like their previous two releases, was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album on December 2, 2009.
