Yu Ye
Visiting Fellow, Freeman Chair in China Studies
Ye Yu is a visiting fellow with the Freeman Chair in China Studies at CSIS. She joined CSIS from the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), where she is a research fellow and assistant director of the SIIS Institute for World Economy Studies. Her research focuses on the roles of emerging economies in multilateral economic governance—including the Bretton Woods institutions, the World Trade Organization, the G20, and others—and global energy governance. Her recent publications in Chinese include a monograph, International Regulation on Petroleum Trade and Investment (Shanghai People’s Publishing House, 2009) and a number of articles, “A Stocktaking of the G20: Institutions, Issues and Member Interactions” (forthcoming), “Climate Finance, Africa and China’s Role” (forthcoming), “Global Energy Governance: Structure, Challenges and Trends” (2011), “Comparative Studies of China and India’s Energy Policies” (2010), “Incrementalism and the Development of US Energy Policies” (2009), and “Implications of the EU-ACP EPA to the Emerging Powers and South-South Cooperation” (2009). She has also coauthored a number of SIIS reports commissioned by the government, including Reform of International Political, Economic and Security Institutions in the Next 5 Years (2012), China’s Strategy on Cooperation with the World Bank in the New Era (2011), and International Financial System Reform: Assessment and Outlook (2011).
Dr. Ye held visiting positions at Yale University from September 2005 to June 2006 under the Fox International Fellowship Program; at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, and Mineral Law and Policy of the University of Dundee from September to December 2006; and at the Bush School of Government and Public Service of Texas A&M University from February to April 2009. Dr. Ye received her Ph.D. in law from Fudan University in 2007 and her master’s in law from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in 2002.
