Yukta Kumar is a Livelihoods specialist with a focus on research and implementation of projects that support innovative livelihood approaches and options in the context of socio-economic and environmental change. She has been working with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) since 2010 with a focus on innovative livelihood approaches and options, climate change adaptation strategies, and informational and communication technology for development. Prior to working with ICIMOD, she worked with community based organisations in South Asia and South East Asia on developing livelihood strategies, and identifying employment and education opportunities for vulnerable communities. She also has an interest in effective and impact oriented research and communication, which she has taken the initiative to integrate into her work with various organisations globally.She holds a Masters Degree from University of Sussex in Migration Studies with a specialisation on livelihood development in a forced migration context. She has completed her Bachelors of Arts in Politics from Whitman College in USA, and International Baccalaureate Diploma from the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore. She is an Indian citizen who lived in Hong Kong and Singapore, prior to pursuing higher education.
