Yvett Merino has been with Disney Animation Studios for over 25 years. She grew up in the predominantly Hispanic south L.A. city of Norwalk, and studied sociology at UC Santa Barbara. Merino first began as an assistant in the Technology Department and was promoted to Administrative Manager. After 10 years in the Technology Department, she moved into the world of production, working as a Production Supervisor in Editorial on Tangled, with the stereo team The Lion King 3D, and then to Wreck-It Ralph where she worked in Technical Animation, Effects and Lighting. Merino was promoted to Production Manager on the Academy Award-winning Big Hero 6 and Moana.

Most recently, she produced the Academy Award-nominated film Encanto. As often the only Latina in the room, she started an employee resource group called Voces (“Voices”) at Disney, which grew to more than 400 members within the first two weeks.
