Zeinab Badawi        

Presenter for BBC Global Questions & HardTalk, Director of Kush Communications, Chair at Royal African Society

Zeinab Badawi was born in the Sudan and has lived in the UK since she was two. She has a BA Hons degree in PPE from Oxford University and an MA in history awarded with a distinction from SOAS, London University. She has worked extensively as a broadcast journalist on programmes such as the BBC’s 'Hard Talk', and 'Global Questions’.

Through her own production company, she produced and presented a major 20-part tv series on the history of Africa and makes films about opera. Badawi sits on several boards including the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the UK’s Arts, Humanities and Research Council, BBC Media Action, the Royal Opera House, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, she is a member of the high level group of Africa Europe Foundation and on the advisory boards of think-tanks Afro-Barometer and MINDS - the Mandela Institute for Development Studies.

She is President of SOAS London University. Badawi has received many awards as well as honorary doctorates.
