Neil Callanan has been a real estate reporter at Bloomberg since September 2011. He has written extensively on European banks efforts to deleverage their real estate assets, the CMBS market, Ireland's National Asset Management Agency and the European expansion plans of U.S multinationals.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, he was business editor of The Sunday Tribune and a senior news reporter at The Sunday Business Post. His work has also appeared in The Financial Times and The Sunday Times and he is a regular contributor to Irish radio and television programs. Callanan has covered Irish real estate for 12 years and wrote extensively on the country's 2008 property bust. He was jointly nominated for TV3's Story of The Year for an investigation into spending on land by Ireland's Department of Education and was first to reveal that senior Anglo Irish Bank executives were to be arrested following a police probe into changes to loan documentation.

Callanan graduated in 2000 from Dublin City University with a degree in journalism. He is a former director of Make-A-Wish Ireland.
