Orhan Pamuk is the 2006 Nobel laureate in literature and the Robert Yik-Fong Tam Professor in the Humanities at Columbia University. Born in Istanbul on June 7, 1952, he left the architecture program at the Istanbul Technical University after three years to pursue a career in writing. His novels include "The White Castle," "The Black Book," "Snow," and his newest title, "The Museum of Innocence." He holds honorary doctorates from the Free University of Berlin, Tilburg University, Boğaziçi University, and Georgetown, and his books have been translated into more than fifty languages. He lives in New York City.

More than 600 Wisconsin high school students gathered in Madison this week to meet with Nobel Prize winning Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk. The event was a unique opportunity for students who have been reading his prize winning novel “Snow” to show and tell Pamuk what they made of it.
