Paul Walden Hansen  

Regional Director, The Concord Coalition

Paul W. Hansen is The Concord Coalition’s Rocky Mountain states regional director. He has decades of experience in public policy work and civic engagement efforts around the country.

Hansen, a resident of Jackson, Wyoming, works with organizations, Concord volunteers, journalists and others across 10 states: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. He organizes public education programs, and speaks and writes on the fiscal challenges facing the country.

Before joining The Concord Coalition this year, Hansen served as executive director of the Izaak Walton League of America for 12 years and as director of the conservation organization’s Midwest office for 11 years. He has also worked for The Nature Conservancy in Wyoming and has received the Keystone Center’s Leadership in the Environment Award.

Hansen served as chair of the “Green Group” -- the leadership forum of the CEOs of the major national environmental groups – and was a founding member of the American Wildlife Conservation Partners. He was also on the board of the Louisiana Pacific Corporation from 1999 to 2007.

The Concord coalition is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to fiscal responsibility and reform. It was founded in 1992 by former senators Warren Rudman (R-N.H.) and the late Paul Tsongas (D-Mass.). Rudman and former senator Sam Nunn (D-GA) now serve as co-chairs of the organization.
