Advocacy Director of United We Dream

Sanaa Abrar is an immigrant and women's rights advocate committed to uplifting the voices of those who are often unheard. At United We Dream, Sanaa serves as the Advocacy Director, and previously as the Policy & Advocacy Manager. She leads the organization's strategy on breaking down policy and legislation for UWD members and manages relationships on Capitol Hill as the organization pushes back against attacks on the immigrant community and advocates for permanent protections like the Dream Act.

Prior to her work at United We Dream, Sanaa was the Research Coordinator at EMILY's List, where she led projects related to legislative and candidate research that contributed to electing pro-choice Democratic women at the local, state, and federal levels. Sanaa attended Washington University in St. Louis, where she received a degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at American University.

Sanaa was born in Karachi, Pakistan and immigrated to the United States with her parents at a young age. She calls both Kentucky and Washington, DC her homes.
